Swatches: Gransenbon 'Gran Brush' Powder Blush

Source.

Gransenbon is a Japanese brand, on the pricey end of drugstore. These blushes cost about 19USD, and I don't have 04 because the tester was stolen [who DOES that?]. They are all shimmery, and have very nice texture as well as being highly pigmented. Alot of people love their blushes for good reason. However, they recently discontinued alot [which accounts for the gaps between numbers] that were extremely pretty : (. Check out the pics:

Swatches: K-Palette Color Disk Cheek

Source from here.

Many of us have never heard of K-Palette before, so I will enlighten you! K-palette is a division of the company that owns Gransenbon [famous for their blushes, that we will take a look at tomorow]. K-palette's blushes are totally inferior to Gransenbon's, but that doesn't really matter as their real stand out is the 1 Day Tattoo liquid eyeliner. But that is another story.

Of course, K-palette branched out into eyeshadow palettes, eyebrows, lipgloss and blushes. So that brings us full circle!
These blushes retail for roughly 18USD. They are on the sheer side [I had to run my finger in these several times to get this level of color], and I don't really recommend that you buy the blushes for that price tag.

Swatches: Aube Couture Designing Blush

[picture from ichibankao.com]

These lovely new blushes from Aube Couture retail for roughly 25USD, promosing to deliver a sculpted [contoured??] look that is accomplished by the way the blusher is pressed in the pan. As you can see in the picture above, the top and bottom are slanted so it makes the middle of the pan higher. It's..hm...kind of like those McDonalds fry cartons, if they folded in the top too.

I don't know about the look it's supposed to give, but logic says that if you swipe a brush evenly across the surface, the part that is raised higher gets more pigment--and the overall effect is to make your cheeks 'sculpted'.

They are a bit on the sheer side--I would call them medium pigment, but able to be layered and I think it makes them alot more wearable. Not bad, with that fancy packaging for 25$.

Swatches: Kanebo KATE Gel Eyeshadow

[picture from ichibankao.com]

I shouldn't even bother with posting these swatches because they are CRAPPY. But it doesn't matter if I redo them or not--they'll just turn out CRAPPY again. Why are they crappy?
Because the texture! The texture of the eyeshadow gel is so bouncy and weird, the only way you can even pick up a decent amount of color is if you smoosh your finger around in it. Oh, and by the way, if you AREN'T aggressive in getting your color, all you end up with is glitter on your finger.

You can tell on these swatches, particularly PU1 and BL1 that there's one part of the swatch that's more pigmented. Yes, indeed, because that was where I actually had to get a little part of the gel disconnected from the rest in the pot to get it swatched. And it still left me with loads of glitter.
The colors that seem a bit sheerer are PU1, PK1, & BL1. [I know that in the Ichibankao pic BL1 is labelled as BG1, but the tester's sticker was BL1. Weird!]

You've been warned...however, if you do intend to test one out for yourself, they're 13$ at ichibankao and not far off that in retailing stores.

MAC Colour Craft Swatches! Kind of.

Alright I've got the lipsticks and Mineralize blushes [missing Daft Pink as the MA was using it..grr]! The lipsticks are mostly lustres I think, I used several coats to get the colors to show up well / differentiate. The most pigmented were the brighter colors.
Ok, from Specktra, the finishes/official lipstick color descriptions:
  • Madly Creative - Pink neutral with white pearl (Frost)
  • Ever Embellish - Plum brown with red pearl (Lustre)
  • Made with Love - Bright coral pink (Lustre)
  • Colour Crafted - Milky pink (Frost)
  • Trimming Talk - Bright fuschia (Frost)
  • Most Popular - Purple with yellow undertone (Lustre) (Repromote: Hello Kitty)

The mineralize blushes, I was NOT a fan. They were sparkly! They weren't as buttery as last year's release either. Nice colours, but LE and a price tag of 21 bucks? Forget it.

I didn't swatch the shadows because the SA was eyeing me oddly at that time and I thought I should make a getaway and head off to the other counters to swatch. I can say they weren't as nicely textured as last years though, and nowhere near as pigmented. I think you could use those for a medium pigmented look though.

Fanta Jelly Drink!?

I kid you not. Behold, Fanta Jelly Drink, that, when you shake it for 10 [or 12, the commercials say 12 but it says 10 on the can] seconds, it'll turn to jelly, because apparently some acids will shake up with some other acids and whoa! It'll turn to jelly.

Well, in honor of the fact I'm in Asia and us crazy Asians have all kinds of wacked out schtuff, I tried it. Turns out you don't need to shake it for it to turn to jelly...I didn't know it was jelly at first, and boy did I get a shock! It comes in orange and grape.

It has a really weird texture, it's hard to get used to, a thick jelly that still fizzes and tastes like regular soda. I couldn't get myself used to it so I had to swish it around in my mouth so that it vaguely resembled liquid again before drinking it.

Only found in Japan and Taiwan, so if this seems to tickle your fancy, if you're ever in the neighborhood go pick one up.

SAY WHAT? Majolica Majorca DISCONTINUED their SHADOWS?

[picture from ichibankao.com]

That's all that's left?!?

Say what? What happened to all their lovely colors? The fabled SV821? All the other shades? Those lovely metallics?

Seriously, Majolica? I love your palettes and all, but your singles were just as good and even better than some of them. I hope you're rebooting the singles, and that's the reason for the mass discontinuation.

Anger.

But I will bring swatches of the remaining colors to my readers as soon as I can.

Haul: My First In Taiwan!

First haul from the drugstores! Tis awesome. Also, I found ArtDeco for 50% off! There wasn't the eyeshadow base [darn], and I didn't know how the rest of their things are so I just got shadows. Here's the whole thing!

Feel free to ask questions :)

Swatches: Beaute De Kose Esprique Precious Mat Lasting Cream Eyeliner

Whoo! Super long name. Well, Beaute de Kose Esprique Precious is a brand under Kose, and one of their eyeliners is this cream eyeliner, retailing for 28USD.

I don't really know why they call this 'Mat', because the BK002 definetly isn't. BK001 and BR300[Please disregard mislabeled swatch] are dark and matte, but BK2 is a dark purply black ish color with shimmer. I don't know if you can tell that it is softer than BK1 in this picture, but here it is. Also, there seems to be a new color, BL900 [and BK002 is supposedly discontinued], but at the counter, there wasn't BL900 and BK002 was still there. Strange.

Swatches: Shiseido Integrate Prismalise Eyes Cream Eyeshadow

Shiseido Integrate is a drugstore line famous for having Angelina Jolie as it's spokesperson. They're strong selling point is their lipgloss, as, personally, I don't think anything else they sell besides lipstick and blush is worth looking at. Their cream eyeshadow was introduced last year, and retail for about 5USD and come in wand packaging. Check it out:

While they do take a bit of time to dry, and they are a little sheer once spread out, they are very good for a one color lid look.

Swatches: Lavshuca Cheek Color

[picture from ichibankao.com]

Kanebo Lavshuca is a drugstore line, though a bit more expensive than Majolica Majorca, it's closest competitor. I believe these cheek colors retail for about USD, give or take.

These are on the sheer side, which in my opinion, makes them more wearable. They have a good range of shades that are most commonly bought, and as they don't really concentrate on the cheeks, its a good range for them. As all Lavshuca, these are packaged in a burgundy plastic with a clear cover. There isn't a brush that comes with this and I like that, because usually the ones brands give you suck and are a waste of space. This is definetly worth your money.

Swatches: Lunasol Summer 2009 Palettes

[image from A Touch Of Blusher.blogspot.com]
Lunasol released two palettes [Layer Bloom Eyes if I'm not wrong, but I might be] for summer 2009, in Summer White Gradation [ex01] and Summer Pink Gradation [ex02]. They are both LE.

I'm really disappointed in these. In EX01, the two lighter shades are very shimmery, which would be OK, but they are also sheer. And the darkest shade, the dark olivey brown, is chalky. Meh.

In EX02, the most pigmented shade is the upper left, which is the palest and most shimmery! The rest are so sheer, and satin finish. Even my aunt commented on how sheer it was, and she doesn't even usually pay attention to makeup!
Each of these retail for about 57USD, but Lunasol, Lunasol, what a disappointment you have created this summer 2009.

Check it out: Shu Uemura Face Architect Powder Foundation

I'm not exactly sure why, but Shu Uemura doesn't carry the full colors of any of its foundation or base products in Taiwan. It's a limited amount--I suppose they took out the extremely pale, pink and dark, which isn't a very good tactic in my opinion--there's always going to be someone who isn't uniform! But here are pictures of it's new Powder Face Architect foundation--the shades caried in Taiwan. [P.S. I was NOT supposed to take pictures of these, taking pictures in department stores is strictly a NO].

Bonus picture of their powder brushes, pencil eyeliners and brow pencils.

Swatches: Shu Uemura Gel Liners

[The displayer. The quads are merely existing permanent eyeshadows].
So, Shu Uemura jumps on the gel liner bandwagon! And, even though they're quite pricey at 24USD, they are owning everyone else. Check out the unique, super pigmented shades that just LAST through everything!

I apologize for the yellow lighting, when I tried to take pictures of this outside it would cloud over and become gray! Bleh! These are very creamy, but dry down and become budgeproof. The metallic shades [gold, silver] tend to be...I'm not sure how to explain it, less well bonded together? I don't know. But every color is very pigmented and beautiful.

P.S. This is about 4 USD cheaper in Taiwan :)

NEW: MORE MAC FALL INFO!!!

Source.

"Due to the fluid nature of makeup collection scuttlebutt, it tends to come in waves. Today, another wave washed in. I've put on my life jacket and attempted to wade my way through the ebb and flow of tidbits to bring you even more sparkling MAC gems....

The 3 part collaboration collection, Makeup Art Cosmetics, is due out on 20 Aug 09. This is where I admit to my guess being wrong. I guessed that the photog was Miles Aldridge, but I was incorrect. The collaborators are: painter Richard Phillips, illustrator Maira Kalman and photog Marilyn Minter.

Click Read More below for the full dish......

+ Richard did the lipsticks, lipglass and 3 eye palettes (1 blue/green, 1 pink/plum and 1 earthy neutrals). The quads are called: Skintone, Private Viewing, and Photo Realism

Lipsticks:
Front Lit - Light white yellow (LE)
High Strung - Deep pink silver (Permanent)
Hold the Pose - Brown plum with pearl (LE)

Lipglasses:
Young Thing - Yellow neutral with gold pearl (LE)
On Display - Purple with yellow pearl (LE)

+ Maira did 6 bright eye shadows and 4 new bright Technakohls (including a lime and magenta!!!).

Technakohls:
Color Matters - Bright lime
Obviously Orange - Dirty coral
Artistic License - Bright turquoise blue
Full of Fuchsia - Deep blue magenta
Graphblack - Rich graphic black (Permanent)

Shadows:
Crest the Wave - Light, frosty yellow with yellow and white pearl (LE) (Repromote from Naughty Nauticals Stowaway quad)
Haunting - Light turquoise blue (LE) (Repromote from Alexander McQueen)
Violet Trance - Deep blue purple (LE) (Repromote from Balloonacy's Pandamonium quad)

+ Marilyn did 4 pigments (2 new 2 repromotes) and new glitters. Of the 4 glitters, 2 are new reflects glitters. All 4 glitters will be perm in stores, but LE counters. There is also said to be a gloss texture product in Marilyn's part of the collection.

Pigments:
Brash & Bold - Bright Magenta (LE)
Heritage Rouge - Dirty brown plum (Permanent) (Pro)
Cocomotion - Dirty golden bronze with gold pearl (LE) (Repromote)

Glitters:
Reflects Copper (Permanent) (Pro)
Reflects Rust (Permanent) (Pro)

Blush:
The Perfect Cheek - Dirty pale pink (LE)
Notable - Brick brown red (LE)

Sidenote: Yesterday's blog post said the pigments from this collection would be the bright colours. That was a goof on my part. Sorry, it is the eye shadows that are supposed to be the bright ones.

The Jin Soon fall MAC nail lacquer line is due out on 27 Aug 09.

+ Featuring 6 new shades of LE nail laquer designed by Jin Soon.

Along with the release of Jin Soon's nail line on 27 Aug, we will also see a lash collection called Flirt with Fall.

+ This will feature 6 sets of lashes. 2 will be perm everywhere and 2 will be perm in stores only. The other 2 are LE.

On 10 Sep, there will be a collection called MAC in High Def (this may be a working name and the final name may be different).

+ This revisits a lot of the HD and mineralized products that are already in the line. Now this is just a guess on my part, but perhaps we will see new MSFs come to the permanent Mineralize line?

Sep 17 will bring the yet to be named Fall Trend collection.

+ It will be very modern, very urban.

+ There are tones of taupy greys and blues with pops of coral.

+ 4 lipsticks

+ 3 lipglasses

+ 1 quad

+ A "new" fragrance called Asphalt Flower. It will be in a vial with a roller ball applicator. I say "new" because as any old school MAC addict knows, Asphalt Flower was one of 3 of MACs original scents waaaay back in the day. The other two were Synthetic Nirvana and Hyper Souk. These used to come in small vials with a necklace so you could wear them around your neck. *climbs out of time machine*

There will also be a Pro colour expansion that is all about primary colours. This is slated for 17 Sep.

+ Featuring Chromalines, Chromacakes, Paintsticks and Airbrush shades. New shades will be cyan (yay), magenta (yay), black black and primary yellow.

Sep 24 brings us Style Black. We can expect:

+ 1 true black lipstick (cremesheen)

+ 2 Mattenes: One a matte black, the other a repromoted deep purple. My guess for the repro Mattene is Bing from Cult of Cherry. What do you think?

+ A new lip product called Glimmerglass. It is sheer with shimmer, has adhesive polymers, and can be worn alone or over lipsticks for more coverage. There will be 3 shades of sheer black: One with gold pearl, one with pink/purple pearl and one creamy black.

+ There will be 4 mineralize black eyeshadows, each with different pearl pigments.

+ Greasepaint stick

+ Penultimate liner

+ 3 nail lacquers: Repromote of Nocturnelle and 2 others LEs. One is black with gold particle pearl and the other is black with pink/purple pearl.

+ #214 brush

+ 2 black CCBs: Bat Black (pro) and a new LE CCB.

+ Volvanic Ash Exfoliator and .....wait for it....Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask. The Thermal Mask was supposed to get released last year with the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator in the Future Earth collection, but got pulled at the last minute. We'll see if it makes it this time around??? Sadly, both will be LE.

24 Sep brings Zoom Fast Black Lash.

+ This is a new zoom mascara made from carbon black pigment. It's rumoured to be the blackest of black mascaras.

24 Sep will also launch DazzleCreme.

+ This is the new product I was talking about yesterday. A melding of Dazzleglass and Creamsheen Glass. These are going to be ultra-moisturizing, very cushy on the lips and contain 3 types of pearl pigment.

+ There are 9 LE shades.

Dsquared2 will make it's appearance on 12 Oct 09. We will get:

+ 2 new lipsticks

+ Pro Lip Erase in Dim

+ Fuschia Fix Lip Conditioner

+ 3 Greasepaint sticks. Of the Greasepaint sticks, one is the black one from Style Black, the others are rumoured to be a sheer black with unique undertones. One undertone is a bright blue violet and one is a bright yellow blue. These are said to give a sheen of colour.

+ Feline Kohl Power is back with Dsquared

+ A selection of the Pro Sculpt and Shape Powders

+ 2 shades of gloss texture

+ The #165 brush will also make a reappearance for this collection. Amen! This girl needs a back up of that beauty.

And that brings me to the end. Sorry, that is all I have at the moment. I know some of this changed from my first report yesterday, but that is the nature of early info. Sorry for any confusion. I do try to confirm as much as possible, but remember that the early info is always subject to change. ;) ETA: Just got updated info from a forum member."

I think I just fainted. Thanks to the lovely Specktrettes, for Mac_Whore's info on their blog! What are you looking forward to? This is my list of to look ats:

Aug. 20: Makeup Art Cosmetics: Violet Trance e/s, Crest the Wave

Sept: Mineralize black shadows? Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask,

Sept: Fall Trend collex: BLUE and TAUPES!

NEW: WHOA-MY-GOD, MAC TIDBITS!!!

As you can tell by the title, WOW! I can't wait for these MAC collections, or even just more details on them! Here's the source, by our lovely ladies at Specktra, but I've pasted the info in this post as well.

Remember that All Black collection that I posted about awhile back? Well, its...CONFIRMED!!!!

"A lot of us have been kicking around MAC rumours and intel, trying to scratch at the next layer of collections. We can't help it. It's in our nature. We just need to know. As such, I have a few tasty tidbits for you......

The black collection that we have been buzzing about is called 'Style Black'. It is said to contain:

+ A new type of gloss called Dazzlecream. It's creamy, has 3 different types of pearl pigment and sheer color. Sounds like Creemsheens and Dazzleglass melded into one. Yum.

+ Bat Pro CCB and one other new black based CCB

+ A black mattene, as well as other black, burgundy and greyish lipsticks.

'DSquared' is the Ungaro anniversary collection. There are a good amount of repromotes, but we can expect:

+ Another shot at picking up a Feline kohl Power for those who are desperately lemming.

+ At least 2 new lipsticks

+ The new grease paint stick, which is a water/smudge resistant black liner that has a glossy appearance.

I know you all have lusting over the idea of new palettes. Well, the word is we can see some in
a collection called 'Makeup Art Cosmetics'. This is a 3 person collaboration between an illustrator, painter and a photographer. Each one developed part of the collection. We can expect to see:

+ The painter developed the quads. One is blues/greens, one is purples/burgundies and the other is earthy neutrals.

+ The photographer helped develop the pigments. They are all bright colours like yellow, orange, turquoise, etc. Hmm....I wonder if this might be Miles Aldridge? He has collaborated with MAC before, shooting the promos of Dame Edna, Brunette Blonde Redhead, Naughty Nauticals, Naked Honey and a slew of others. Could this be his next offering? His work fits the bill? I could be wrong. I guess we shall see....

I know you nail lacquer junkies will die for this one. There will be a nail collection featuring 6 new shades designed by Jin Soon for MAC.

The last little tidbit I have is that there will be some new technakohls coming out. Some in bright shades. Hmmm..will a few be perm? They did just discontinue a shade? Did they do this to leave room?

That's all for now, loves. That should give a you a bit to chew on. Savour it, savour it. More coming soon.

What do you think? Does this tempt you?"

OH MY GOD! I canNOT WAIT! Especially for the Make Up Art cosmetics as I myself, when I'm bored, start taking pictures or drawing or something, and the pigments, 'bright yellow, turquoise, orange' look right up my alley!

What are you looking forward to this fall by MAC?

Completely NON-MU related...

Aren't they cute? They're the stuffed animals 'Monokuro Boo' [there's a white version as well, with a silver crown]! It's definetly not related to MU but I love them, so wanted to share. And, they're my first haulings in Taiwan! :D

Why No Posts??

Hi guys! Guess what--I'm now in Taiwan!!!! That would be the reason why there were no posts yesterday, or probably until I can get out to a department store and start swatching, buying and reviewing!

Ack, the flight to Tokyo Narita was hell! And the shopping not the best, at least at the gate area I was at. When I fly back I will go to the other area where there is MUCH better shopping and food!

This is just a note saying, no, I'm not dead, no, I'm not giving up on blogging, it's just till I can get out of the house [without keeling over..jet lag = . =] and start the Asian MU-Fest!!!

Review: MAC Soft Force

Soft Force was also from the May 2009 Style Warriors collection. It's been compared to Femme-Fi, and I believe Femme-Fi may be darker. It's the sort of color that MAC seems to put out every collection though, so it's definetly not a must have.

I love the packaging for this collection! It's very apt to 'style warriors', being zebra and leopard print. I wish that the actual eyeshadow pots had leopard print on them though, rather than just being a complimentary olivey bronze. The clear window has a print on it too though.

I don't own many highlighters so I can't do swatch comparisions. In fact, I think all the ones I own come in palettes!

Soft Force is a veluxe pearl formula in a golden cream shade. But it seems to have tiny chunks of silver glitter in it! Once applied it shows up, so it's definetly on the pretty shimmery side. That being said, I don't experience any fall out from SF.

I like to pair Soft Force with neutrals---especially bronzes--or navies, and cool blues. I think Soft Force is a great color and works really well with the rest of Style Warriors eyeshadows, and am glad that I purchased it!
Like other MAC eyeshadows, this lasts all day without creasing with UDPP under it.
I paid USD 14.50 for Soft Force, and it's available at your local MAC counter!
