MORE Sephora Friends and Family News!

11/06-11/10
on-line ONLY
code to get 20% off: FF2008
(credit to mqs @ MUA for posting)

Now, amid the rumors of only SAs and friends and family of theirs & the random codes Sephora has been sending out, people have been FREAKING OUT. Honestly, this is a *huge* money winner for Sephora and I would be VERY surprised if they cancelled it, especially with this economy. If this is a total joke, that would be cruel indeed...

MAC Strawbaby

Oh. My. God. Nc25 and above ladies, you need this. Especially if you want a lippie that will brighten your face up. I had been lemming this for months after the 2/08 Fafi release, something like since June and July. When I managed to swap for this, I was *almost* disapointed when I opened it. It didn't look like all the pictures! But at first swipe across lips, it was love. The color description is a coral rose with rainbow pearl, in the lustre finish. Its pretty pigmented for a Lustre, and definetly pretty warm. The price was 14$, which is the regular price of MAC lippies. I probably wouldn't go to the trouble of hunting it down again because there probably are dupes out there, but I'd repurchase the shade anytime.

Left and Above (swatches) are MAC Lightly Ripe lipstick, Cult of Cherry collection.

NOTD: Clarins 103

I recently recieved this in a swap and loved the color! However, after I took a shower with it on (base coat, 3 layers of color and top coat) it just completely peeled off. Up for swap it goes...

It's a semi sheer opaque milky pink tinged white. The formula doesn't streak and applies smoothly.

Sephora Friends And Family News!!

For all those who do not know, Sephora Friends and Family (F&F) Sale (20% off) is rumored to start on November 14th. Now, I know people who've been adding and curbing their shopping carts all year for this! You can have unlimited amount of orders using the code, which hasn't come out yet. But, mid November is looking alot brighter already!

Review: Kanebo Lavshuca Summer Gradually Compact 02

These palettes were limited edition this year, summer 08. While I've been very slow at reviewing them...I doubt you would care, since I'm honestly not impressed. It's divided into a 'day' (white) part, and a black (night) part. When you recieve it, the inserts are not put in yet; you can choose how to put it in.

Price: 450NTD at a discount store, which translates loosely to 14 USD. However, online stores will sell it for quite a bit more.

Texture: It has a smooth texture, however it's the slightest bit of gritty from the glitter in it. Therefore, expect a little fallout.

Finish: Shimmery! If you hate shimmer, stay away. Like most Japanese brands, this is shimmery!

Pigmentation: Sheer...I had expected better from Lavshuca honestly. Their other palettes' pigmentation are way better. Doesn't really show up or pop! I had to use MAC Mutiny pigment to save my look the day I used this.

Lasting Ability: This didn't crease on me or fade during the whole day, above Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Colors:
This is where it all falls apart. The colors are so...light! So...disapointing. I'm already pretty pale (MAC NC20, yellow) and this doesn't do much. It's like a palette of highlighters.
Nevertheless... from left to right:
White side:
1. Light silver, shimmery. Nothing special..
2. Beautiful light seafoam green, I only wish it showed up more. Shimmery.
3. I'd say it was a silvery beige, something I bet MAC has duped. SUPER sheer! Shimmery.
Black side:
1. Darker light blue, which I think it a dupe for MAC mutiny. Shimmery.
2. Even darker blue, something that I would think was a washed up MAC Deep truth, maybe added with a little periwinkle color. Shimmery.
3. The only color without a shimmery finish, it's a satin flesh colored eyeshadow. Again, not really unique.

Review in 3 sentences:
It's a sheer glittery palette, that is Limited Edition. Honestly, the colors are not very unique, and I don't think the color combination of blues/ greens/silver/nude works well together. One of two palettes for Summer '08, and a huge disapointment.

Taiwan Makeup News

Ooh lucky lucky Taiwanese makeup junkies!! In addition to the two Jill Stuart counters found in Taipei, they've opened one in Kaohsiung! While I do not know which department store it is, I will definetly update once I do. Also, as mentioned in my Taiwan Make Up post, there is a PLAZA Store, the only one outside of Japan except for the one in Taipei. Kaohsiung makeup lovers no longer need to travel to Taipei for their makeup fixes!! Have fun shopping :]

UPDATE: The Jill Stuart counter is located in Hanshin Arena, which you can access by taking their underground metro and opened 10/2/08. (station is called Hanshin Arena).

MAC High Tea

Wow, I've only had this for...maybe 3 weeks but I'm in LOVE! Whoever told me that it's more of an everyday lippie than a good nude one is definetly right. However, I still love it. Wowie...This may become a Holy Grail!!! But I still want to try MAC Cremesheen Creme D'nude.

Retails 14.50 at Mac store and counter locations everywhere or at maccosmetics.com.

Review: Kanebo Lavshuca Eye Color

Range: 12 colors, from bright pink, to wine, to blue, to silver, to gold, to beige and brown. A very nice variety.

Naming: As usual, Japanese brand naming is boring...abbreviated words with numbers usually meaning the order of which it came in. For example, PK-1, PK-2. PK is pink, 1 and 2 being which color was created first. BL is Blue, WN Wine, GD gold, BG Beige, BN Brown, SV silver, and so on.

Packaging: This comes in an easy to depot white case with a clear lid. The lid is also embellished with pinky silver decorations. Very fancy, and by the way, if you like to keep a few MAC eye singles with you, these fit MAC :]

Depotting: Like most other Japanese brands, Lavshuca things are easy to depot. However, it's kind of hard to find the hole. Where it says Kanebo at the top of the sticker on the back, the hole is 'ne'. Just poke a pen or toothpick in there and lift out.

Lasting Ability/Creasing: I experienced no creasing over UDPP and it lasted the whole day with no touchups.

Texture: There is an imprinted L Lavshuca symbol which does NOT fade over a few uses. The texture is soft and very pigmented. I love it!

Price: This can be bought for 14USD at ichibankao.com, but I believe I got mine for far less...maybe 6$? I'm not too sure.

The colors I have are PK-3, light shimmery pink, and WN-1, a plummy wine.

Blast From The Past: MAC for A-Mei

(A-Mei, Asian pop star)
It was released 1/8/08 at very select locations, like Dresscamp and Manish Aurora.
From specktra.net:
"Lipstick

* Ruby woo - Vivid bluish-red (Matte, Perm)
* Siss - Muted golden beige (Satin, Perm)

Lipglass

* Love rules - Fuchsia flashed-up with white sparkle pearlized pigment (LE)
* Shes a star - Lustre-shine light neutral gold (LE)

Bold Eyes Palette (LE)

* Venus - (LE)
* Carbon - Intense black (Matte, Perm)
* Freshwater - Bright summersky blue (Veluxe Pearl, Perm)

Neutral Eyes Palette (LE)

* Vanilla - Soft pale peachy-ivory flecked with shimmer (Velvet, Perm)
* Mulch - Intense golden reddish brown flecked with golden bronze shimmer (Velvet, Perm)
* Brown down - Teddy bear brown (Veluxe, Perm)"

Although it was at very select locations, I still managed to indulge. I got Bold Eyes and Love Rules.

Honestly, the bold eyes were pretty disapointing. Carbon creased on me, Venus barely showed up and Freshwater was sheerer than I'm used to from MAC. However, the colors work great together, and I can use this efficently when I want to.

Love Rules is your standard bright obnoxious warm fuschia lip glass we all see from MAC at some point, but as I didn't have one, I happily indulged. This brightens up the lip (and face) fabulously!! Complete 5 star from me.
